Panthers Fall on the Road at Albany State

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 Albany, Ga. --- Coming off a victory in their last contest, the Clark Atlanta University Panthers baseball team hit the road over the Easter weekend looking to extend their winning streak against the Albany State University Golden Rams, but the home team would not be in the giving mood as the Panthers dropped all three contests, 7-6, 14-1 and 5-1.

Friday night marked the opening of the series between the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) foes as they played a single nine-inning game. Clark Atlanta looked like they had carried their momentum with them from their previous win as quickly jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the fourth inning, thanks in part to an RBI double from senior Derrick Lott.

In the top of the fourth inning, fellow senior Marcus McDaniel drove in his second run of the game, pushing the Panthers lead to 5-0, as pitcher Jezreel Moore continued to shut down the opposition. However, the Rams would plate six runs over the next four innings, to give them a slight 6-5 edge heading into the ninth and final frame. Malcolm Seabrooks would drive in Deance' Wyatt to give Clark Atlanta a share of the lead as they headed to the home-half of the inning, however an RBI single would drive in the game-winning walk-off run for the home squad.

The two teams would kick off the final games of the series in a double header on Saturday afternoon, with both teams looking to take control of the series. Unfortunately for the Panthers they would never be able to gain control as they had on Friday as fatigue set in, dropping both contests to their SIAC rivals.

The Panthers will play their final home games of the season next weekend as they play host to Benedict College, with a double header on Saturday starting at 12 pm, and the third and final game on Sunday starting at 1 pm. The Clark Atlanta Department of Athletics will be celebrating "Senior Day" before Sunday's game as they recognize all the seniors from the baseball team, as well as the track and field teams.
