Box Score 2 College Park, Ga. --- The Clark Atlanta University Panthers baseball team had high hopes going into their season opening doubleheader against Virginia Union on Sunday afternoon at Bill Evans Field, but were unable to come away with a victory losing 10-0 in the first contest and 23-4 in the second.
Freshman pitcher Kendall Morrison had a strong opening day for the Panthers, going 3-for-5 overall with a double, a triple, and two RBIs. Tashaun Taylor put up a strong effort for the visiting Trojans, going 5-for-9 with four doubles and a home run, totaling seven RBIs along the way.
In the second game of the doubleheader the Trojans jumped out to a early 5-0 lead before the Panthers would storm back with four runs in the bottom of the second to cut the lead to one. This however would prove to be the only offense CAU could generate on the day, as VSU began to pull away for the victory.
Clark Atlanta (0-2) will return to action on Sunday, February 15th, as they travel to Fairfield, Alabama, to take on Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) foes Miles College in doubleheader action, with first pitch slated for 1 PM (CT). The Panthers next home game, which will also be a doubleheader, will come on Wednesday, February 25th, as they will switch hosting duties with Miles College, with first pitch set for 1 PM (ET). All home CAU baseball games are played at Bill Evans Field, located at 3636 College Street, College Park, Georgia.
