Baseball Looks to Hit the Ground Running in 2015

Atlanta, Ga. --- The Clark Atlanta University Panthers baseball team will take the field for the first time this season against visiting Virginia State University this Sunday, February 8th, as they look to get off on the right foot this season. First pitch is scheduled for 1 pm, with the second game of the double-header starting approximately 30 minutes after the completion of game one.

The Panthers will be led this season by first-year Volunteer Head Coach Kentaus "K.C." Carter and 2014 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) All-Conference selection Johnny Surry. A junior from Atlanta, Georgia, Surry was also named to the Pre-Season SIAC All-Conference Team for the upcoming 2015 season.

Carter comes to CAU after serving the past three seasons as the Assistant Head Coach for the Winston-Salem State University baseball team. During this time he saw his team win three straight conference championships, advancing to the NCAA D-II playoffs in all three of those seasons.

With seven underclassmen (freshmen and sophomores) and seven upperclassmen (juniors and seniors), the team looks to have the veteran leadership that every team needs, with the youthful explosion from it's underclassmen that every team covets.

Clark Atlanta will play all of it's 16 home games at Bill Evans Field, which is located off campus at 3636 College Street, College Park, Georgia, 30337.
