Lady Panthers Finish 1-3 in SIAC Round-up

Columbia, S.C.- The Clark Atlanta University women's tennis team finished 1-3 in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) round-up tournament hosted by Benedict College February 26-28.

The Lady Panthers (2-6, 2-2) swept Lemoyne-Owen College, 9-0, in straight sets during all but one match. At the No. 1 doubles position, Vonnick Boyogueno and DAndrea Galloway finished 8-0 while the sophomore tandem of Tori Pradier and Avern Gumbs topped their opponent 8-2. Senior Vanessa Jean-Baptiste won the No. 4 singles position 6-0, 6-0 and helped Clark Atlanta outscore Lemoyne-Owen 52-2.

On day two, CAU dropped two matches to Benedict College (5-3) and Stillman College (6-1). Against Benedict, Pradier and Gumbs outlasted the Lady Lions for a 9-7 doubles win in the No.2 position while Boyogueno held off Benedict's Esther Zolaya at the No. 2 singles spot (6-2, 6-2) and Galloway won the No. 5 singles position (6-0, 6-2). In Clark Atlanta's only win against Stillman Galloway topped Inow Tolomeo in three sets (6-0, 1-6, 10-7) from the No. 5 position.

Next, the Lady Panthers will travel to Tuskegee University to face the Lady Tigers Tuesday, March 3, for a 1 p.m., match.
