Morehouse Takes Doubleheader From Clark Atlanta

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Atlanta, Ga. --- The Clark Atlanta University Panthers hopped back on the bus this morning for the short trip to Perkerson Park, where they took the field trying to get revenge on the Morehouse College Maroon Tigers after MC beat CAU 13-3 on Friday. Unfortunately for CAU, despite the games being much closer, Morehouse took both games 7-5 and 6-3.

Game one started out much better for the Panthers as they jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first, thanks to a two RBI double from pre-season All-Conference selection Johnny Surry. The Tigers would answer back with a run of their own in the bottom of the first, but CAU would carry a 3-to-2 lead into the bottom of the fourth inning, but a three-run home run from Jordan Tarver would put Morehouse ahead for good in the game. The Panthers would bring the game tying run to the plate in the top half of the final inning, but would be unable to get any runs on the scoreboard. Jezreel Moore pitched a complete game for Clark Atlanta, giving up six earned runs on seven hits.

The Panthers would once again jump out to an early lead in the second half of the doubleheader, leading 1-0 after the top of the first and 2-0 after the top of the second. The Maroon Tigers would outscore them 6-1 over the final five innings however, as the Panthers were unable to get the runners that they needed on the base paths. Daron Bowling pitched a complete game for the home side, with Darian Taylor recording all but one out as the pitcher of record for CAU.

These two teams will hit the field one more time on Sunday at 12 pm, as the Panthers look to salvage a victory, while the Tigers will have a sweep on their minds.
