Panthers Drop Season Series to Morehouse

Box Score Atlanta, Ga. --- The Clark Atlanta University Panthers dropped the second game of the season series to Morehouse College on Saturday afternoon, falling on the hardwood in Forbes Arena, 77-60. Cornell Barnett led the Panthers with 16 points, with Tyrius Walker dropping 20 for Morehouse.

The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) rivals turned the game into a defensive battle in the first half with only 53 total points on the board, only to see the scoring open up in the second half in which the teams combined for 84 points.

The Panthers (6-19, 5-13 SIAC) gained the upper hand in the game early on, however a 9:25 long scoring drought would let Morehouse get back in the game, and eventually take the lead for good at the 10:03 mark of the first frame. The Panthers were able to summon a 10-2 run in the early minutes of the second half to bring the game within two points, but Morehouse would answer with a 38-23 run to end the game.

CAU was only able to shoot 28.8% (19-of-66) from the floor over the course of the game, with Morehouse besting them at 50.0 % (19-of-38). Free throws would ultimately be the deciding factor in the end however, as CAU went 18-of-29 (62.1%), while MC went 38-of-57 (66.7%).

Clark Atlanta will end their regular season on the road on Monday, as they travel to Fort Valley State for a 7:30 tip-off. For more information, please log on to clarkatlantasports.com.
