BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Clark Atlanta played three matches in the second day of the SIAC Championships, dropping the bookends to Claflin and Albany State ending the bid for another SIAC Championship. CAU was able to defeat Benedict in an elimination match in the middle of the day.

HOW IT HAPPENED: Claflin Match
Clark Atlanta dropped the match to the No. 1 seed from the SIAC-East, Claflin; 25-21, 25-19, 25-13.
All the numbers favored Claflin in the match. CAU trailed in kills, 41-29, hitting, .345-.135, assists, 37-26, and digs, 38-31.
Top performances in the loss came from
Sierra Scoggins (nine kills),
Briana Aldridge (two aces and 14 digs), and
Kiara Govan (25 assists).
HOW IT HAPPENED: Benedict Match
Facing elimination, Clark Atlanta won in straight sets over Benedict; 25-19, 25-16, 25-17.
CAU outhit Benedict, .250-.012. The Panthers hit a match best, .429, winning the second set.
Clark Atlanta held the advantage in the key stats; kills, 37-23, blocks, 7-5, and assists, 32-23.

Cori Smith record match-highs in kills (15) and aces (three).
Govan recorded her second 25 assist match of the day. She added five digs in the match.
Dariyan Stallings registered 13 digs.
Sabrina Tucker added six kills.
Scoggins chipped in with six kills, two aces, and five assists.
HOW IT HAPPENED: Albany State Match
Facing elimination, the Panthers dropped the match in straight sets; 25-17, 25-22, 25-22.
Albany State held the match advantage in kills, 43-25, assists, 42-23, and digs, 52-37. CAU led in aces, 3-2, and blocks, 10-8.
Smith topped CAU with 10 kills and was one of a trio to register an ace.
Govan dished out 13 assists while Stallings added a team-high eight digs.
Brittany Warren-Dancy blocked a match-best five shots.
Scoggins ended the match with seven kills, one ace, and four blocks.
