ROME, Ga. - Mykala Jones scored 20 points, one of three to reach double-digits, but Clark Atlanta fell to Gulf South Conference in-state foe Shorter, 81-61. This was the first game of the season for the Lady Hawks.

HOW IT HAPPENED:After Shorter connected on a layup off the opening tip-off,
Mykala Jones tied the game with a jumper with 9:47 left in opening quarter.
Nekia Sockwell gave CAU the lead, 4-2, on a layup with 8:53 remaining.
Sydni Davis stretched the lead to three points, 8-5, with 7:09 after making a layup.
Shorter utilized a 16-2 that ended with 1:01 left in the quarter. Jones ended the run 16-0 run by grabbing the offensive rebound and connecting on a jumper. The quarter ended with SU holding the 21-10 advantage.
CAU got within 10 points twice in the second quarter, but went to halftime trailing 41-24.
The third quarter saw the home team outscore CAU 25-15 to enter the fourth quarter leading 66-39.
The fourth quarter was the only quarter of the game where Clark Atlanta outscored Shorter, 22-15. But the difference entering the quarter was too much to overcome with the final score tipping toward the home team.
THE NUMBERS:Jones scored 20 points on 8-for-19 from the floor and 4-for-8 from 3-point range.
Davis scores 13 points on 6-for-13,
Gia Banks scored in double-digits with 10 points on 4-for-7 from the floor.
Banks (7) and Davis (6) led the rebounding effort.
CAU held the advantage in offensive rebounds, 13-10.
