Box Score Atlanta, Ga. --- The Clark Atlanta University Lady Panthers started off the double-header against the regionally ranked Benedict College Lady Tigers Thursday night in Epps Gymnasium, falling to the visitors 71-54. Mykala Jones led the way for CAU with 13 points, while DaVontaye Merritt led four BC players in double-figures with 14 points.
The Lady Panthers (8-9, 4-6 SIAC) started out cold in the first half, only shooting 25% (6-of-24) from the floor. This allowed the Lady Tigers to open up a 38-23 lead at the half, a deficit that Clark Atlanta would not be able to overcome.
The next game for the Lady Panthers will be at fellow Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) member Albany State, on Monday, February 2nd, in Albany, Georgia. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 PM.
Men's GameThe Clark Atlanta University Panthers men's basketball team again took on the Benedict College Tigers in the second game of the double-header, but weren't able to fair much better than their counterparts, losing to BC 86-67. Joseph Hughes topped the scoreboard for the Panthers with 17 points, while Brennan Reynard was able to better him with 22 points for BC.
CAU (3-14, 2-8 SIAC) jumped out to an 6-0 lead early on, but were quickly matched by a 9-0 Benedict run. This would be the last time that the Panthers held the lead, as BC opened up a 26-point lead at the half. Clark Atlanta managed to outscore the Tigers by seven in the second half, to bring the final differential to 19.
