Tuskegee's Buzzer Beater Downs the Panthers

Box Score Atlanta, Ga. --- A buzzer beating shot by Vladmir Tilme gave Tuskegee University the win against the Clark Atlanta University Panthers on Thursday night in Epps Gymnasium, 65-63. Derek Harper led the way for the Panthers with 20 points and five steals. Allan Dempster added his first double-double of the season with 14 points and 10 rebounds. David Alexander led the way for the Golden Tigers with 22 points.

The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) foes battled back and forth all game, with neither team leading by more than 10 points. With 9.3 seconds remaining in the game, David Alexander headed to the free throw line for the Golden Tigers, where he sank both to give them a two-point lead. Derek Harper sprinted down the floor for the Panthers and was fouled going to the basket. He was able to sink both free throws to tie the game once again with 5.2 seconds remaining. However, Tuskegee was able to get the ball down the court quickly, where Vladmir Tilme was able to knock down the game winning shot as the buzzer went off.

The Panthers (3-10, 2-4 SIAC) will look to bounce back from the tough loss as they take on Spring Hill College at Epps Gymnasium on Saturday, January 17th. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 PM. Saturday is also "Service Personnel Night," meaning that all uniformed service personnel will receive free admission to the game.
