Box Score 3 Tigerville, S.C.- To open the 2014 season, the Clark Atlanta University volleyball team comes up short in its opening tournament hosted by North Greenville University (Tigerville, South Carolina) with losses to Coker College 3-2, St. Andrews College 3-0 and North Greenville 3-0, Saturday.
In game one against Coker, the Lady Panthers(0-3)played a tough five set match, but fell short in their pursuit of victory in the first game of the season. All-Conference selections Cori Smith and Sierra Scoggins led CAU's offensive attack with 10 kills each. Smith also led the team with five service aces while Scoggins made her presence known at the net with a game-high six blocks from the middle blocker position.
Despite the losses in game two against St. Andrews and game three, Smith continued her attack and pounded 13 more kills to led the Lady Panthers in both games. Alexandria Mattox and Sabrina Tucker also contributed with five kills in game three along with Briana Aldridge who recorded a team-high three service aces against North Greenville.
Next, the Lady Panthers will travel to Boca Raton, Florida, to compete in the Lynn University Tournament Sept. 11-13.
