Box Score Atlanta,Ga.---The Clark Atlanta University Panthers pulled away from Claflin University late in the second period for an 84-72 win Thursday at Epps Gymansium.
The Panthers (12-7, SIAC 8-3), winners of eight of their last nine, got a huge lift off the bench from leading scorer James Arnold who finished with a season-high 23 points and Jarrel Joye with 14 points of CAU's 53 bench points. Jordan Husley provided a 14-point production on 4-of-4 from the floor and 10-of-12 from the free throw. Claflin held a slim 37-35 lead at the half while shooting 63 percent from the field compared to 41 percent for the Panthers. Clark Atlanta outscored Claflin by 14 points in the second period to claim its fourth consecutive conference victory.
Next, CAU will host Paine College at Epps Gymnasium Thursday, Feb. 13, at 8 p.m.
