Atlanta,Ga.--Trailing 2-1 after doubles play, the Clark Atlanta University Lady Panthers women's tennis team topped Fort Valley 5-4 in its season opener at the CAU courts today.

The No. 2 doubles team of freshman Tori Pradier and senior Asia Boyd claimed CAU's only doubles win, 8-3, over Fort Valley. Pradier continued her dominance in singles as she ousted the Wildcats' Vanessa Boler 6-2, 6-2 in the No. 1 position. Vanessa Jean-Baptiste and Avern Gumbs won the No. 4 and No. 6 positions, respectively for Clark Atlanta. After dropping the No. 3 and No. 5 matches, CAU senior Brionne Bachus pulled out the decisive win in three sets (6-3, 4-6, 6-2).

Next, the Lady Panthers (1-0, SIAC 1-0) will travel to face USC Aiken Feb. 7th.
