Box Score Atlanta, Ga. --- Despite jumping out to an early 11-2 lead, the Clark Atlanta University Panthers (1-6) were unable to hold on as they fell to the Georgia College Bobcats (5-2) by a score of 76-63 in Epps Gymnasium on Thursday night. Kenneth Green led the way for the Panthers with 14 points, while Ryan Blumethal carried the Bobcats with 21 points.
Early on in the game, the Panthers were a force to be reckoned with on the offensive glass. Six offensive rebounds in the first five minutes allowed them to open up a sizeable lead on the Bobcats. Back to back three pointers shortly after from Ryan Blumethal allowed the Bobcats to claw their way back into the game. Soon after the Bobcats took a lead that they would not surrender for the rest of the game.
Despite being down by 22 at one point, the Panthers never quit and were able to battle back to within 7 with 5 minutes remaining in the game, but were unable to ever get any closer. The Bobcats were able to maintain their lead in the final minutes with free throws, going 21-31 from the line, while the Panthers were only able to get the to line 17 times, making 11 of them.
The Panthers look to bounce back as they return to action December 19th and 20th in Albany, Georgia. They will face Virginia Union University, and Virginia State University, respectively. The Panthers will return to Epps Gymnasium after the holidays, as they kick off conference play against Lemoyne-Owen College. Game times for these contests,can be found on our website at
