Atlanta, Ga.---Kevin James' 21-point performance was not enough as the Clark Atlanta University Panthers dropped their seventh consecutive loss 73-66 in the season finale to Atlanta University Center rival Morehouse College at Forbes Arena Saturday.
After the fifth tie at the 5:20 mark, Morehouse went on an 11-3 run to close the first half with a 39-30 lead. The Maroon Tigers extended their lead to as many as 17 points in the second period with 11:28 remaining. Clark Atlanta's James Arnold scored 12 of his 13 points in the second half to lead the Panthers on a 23-11 run to close the gap to five points with one one minute left in the game, but that would be as close as they would come to the lead. Jarrel Joye also chipped in 11 points while Glyndelle Poole pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds for CAU. Darrius Williams led Morehouse with 22 points and 10 rebounds.
With the loss, the Panthers, who are currently in seventh place in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) East Division, ended the regular season with four wins overall and a 3-15 conference record. The SIAC basketball tournament begins Monday, Feb. 25- March 2, at Forbes Arena. For more information including a complete tournament bracket, please visit
