Stillman Tops Clark Atlanta in Championship Rematch

Box Score Atlanta, GA- In a rematch of last season’s SIAC championship game, it was the Stillman College Tigers triumphant over Clark Atlanta University, 74-63, Saturday at Epps Gymnasium.

The Tigers maintained the lead for most of the game including at the half, 38-29, led by Marvin Hollman who scored 10 of his 13 points in the first half. It was much the same early in the second-half as Stillman’s lead continued to mount. Then CAU’s late second-half surge knotted the game at 59 with 6:51 remaining that erased a 15-point deficit. After Dishone Gregory’s free throw gave the Panthers a slim one-point lead, it was all Stillman as the Tigers put together a 15-4 run to close out the game and seal the victory.

Gregory led all scorers with a game-high 18 points on 7-of-15 shooting and seven rebounds followed by Royce Hamilton’s 15 points and eight rebounds, Logan Shoffner’s 12 points and Willis Brownlee’s 10. Stillman’s Jeffrey Wherry led the team in scoring with 15 points while Ladrius Rhone pulled down a game-high 13 rebounds.

Clark Atlanta (0-3, 0-1) will host Tuskegee University Tuesday, Nov. 22, at Epps Gymansium in an 8 p.m., matchup.
