Clark Atlanta improves to 17-18 overall and 12-15 in conference play

FRANKFORT, Ky. – For the first time since 2022, the Clark Atlanta Panthers baseball team swept a conference opponent after taking down Kentucky State 4-3 in game one, 13-5 in game two, and 15-7 in game three to complete the sweep. The Panthers improved to 17-18 overall with their most conference wins since 2022 (12-15) when they won 11 in league play.

GAME ONE

The Panthers opened the series with a 4-3 win over the Thorobreds. Clark Atlanta used seven hits to bring in four runs while committing no errors in the win. Zykoabi Randolph (1-2) picked up the win on the mound after striking out seven batters and allowing only three earned runs in nine innings pitched for Clark Atlanta.

Tucker Love led the Panthers in hits (2-5) while Andrew Garner batted in a team-high two runners.

Garner's single in the bottom of the top of the third inning put the Panthers on the board first, scoring Sean Stewart and Terry Cruz on the timely hit. In the top of the sixth frame, Asa Waites singled through the right side to bring Alijah Robinson home and give Clark Atlanta a 3-2 lead.

Dorian Andrew followed Waites single with a sacrifice fly to drive in Andrew Leonard for Clark Atlanta's fourth run of the day. The Thorobreds belted a home run in the eighth inning but a runless ninth inning secured the 4-3 lead for CAU.

GAME TWO

Clark Atlanta took game two in blowout fashion with a commanding 13-5 victory over Kentucky State in seven innings. Dylan Scott (7-4) earned his seventh win of the season on the mound after striking out four batters and allowing only five earned runs.

Sean Stewart got the Panthers started early with a leadoff home run in the first inning followed by a sacrifice fly by Andrew Garner to score Terry Cruz and give Clark a 2-0 advantage. Kentucky State responded with a four-run second inning to jump in front 4-2 going into the third. Sean Stewart scored on a wild pitch to start the top of the third followed by timely hits from Andrew Gardner, Andrew Leonard, Dorian Andrews and Alijah Robinson to cap off a five-run inning and put Clark Atlanta back in front 8-4.

Strong defensive play from the Panthers held the Thorobreds to just one run the rest of the game as they tacked on three runs in fifth and two in the sixth inning to escape with a 13-5 win.
