Clark Atlanta Tops SIAC West Leader Miles, 74-59

Lady Panthers surpass last season's win total

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. For the second time this season, the Clark Atlanta Lady Panthers defeated SIAC West Division leader Miles College, earning a 74-59 victory Monday evening at Knox-Windham Gymnasium. The win pushes Clark Atlanta past last season's total of 15 victories, improving to 16-5 overall and 10-3 in conference play.

Trinity Jones led the way with a season-high 25 points on an efficient 9-of-17 shooting (52%), including 5-of-9 (55%) from 3-point range. Atreonia Garner added 22 points on 10-of-19 shooting (52%) and grabbed a game-high seven rebounds. Amberly Brown contributed a season-high 13 points, shooting 54% from the field.

Sophomore Myori Pruitt facilitated the offense with a game-high seven assists.

Clark Atlanta set the tone defensively in the first half, limiting Miles to single-digit scoring in both the first and second quarters. Behind 17 first-half points from Jones, the Lady Panthers built a commanding 41-15 lead at halftime.

Miles responded after the break, holding Clark Atlanta to just nine third-quarter points. However, Garner and Brown combined for half of the Lady Panthers' 24 points in the fourth quarter, sealing the 74-59 victory.

Clark Atlanta shot 51% from the field, 42% from 3-point range and 53% from the free-throw line while holding Miles to below 38% from both the field and beyond the arc. The Lady Panthers' defense forced 30 turnovers, converting them into 32 points.
Despite being outrebounded 35-33, Clark Atlanta dominated the paint, outscoring Miles 44-28 inside. The bench contributed 18 points, led by Brown with 13.

UP NEXT

Clark Atlanta returns to action Saturday, Feb. 8, on the road against Fort Valley State. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m. at HPE Arena.
