Panthers Take down Albany State, 83-75, on the Road

Clark Atlanta moves back into sole first place in SIAC Eastern Division standings

ALBANY, Ga. — Jalen Williams delivered a standout performance, scoring a game-high 24 points to lead Clark Atlanta past Albany State, 83-75, on Monday night at the Jones Brothers HPER Complex. With the win Clark Atlanta improves to 15-8 overall (12-4 SIAC) and moves back into first place in the SIAC Eastern Division standings. 

The Panthers (15-8, 12-4 SIAC) shot an impressive 58.5% from the field and used a dominant second half to secure the win. Clark Atlanta led 33-29 at halftime before erupting for 50 second-half points, pulling away from the Golden Rams (14-9, 11-5 SIAC).

Each of the Panthers five starters scored in double figures led by Jalen Williams with a game-high 24 points, followed by Dez'Mond Perkins with 14 of his own, while Roderick Jones poured in 12 points, and Shemani Fuller and Xavier Griffith with 11 apiece. 

Williams was efficient, shooting 8-of-11 from the floor and 7-of-9 from the free-throw line while adding six rebounds and three assists. Dez'Mond Perkins shot 6-of-10 from the field with three steals, while Roderick Jones added a team-high five assists.

Clark Atlanta's defense forced 16 turnovers and held Albany State to 46.4% shooting. The Panthers also dominated inside, scoring 50 points in the paint. Despite Albany State's late push, fueled by G'Shan Aldridge's 17 points, Clark Atlanta maintained control and sealed the victory at the free-throw line. CAU's lead grew to as much as 13 points with 3:09 left to play in regulation.

The Panthers won the battle in the paint, outscoring Albany State 54-30 in the paint while also pulling down 35 rebounds compared to ASU's 24 boards.
