Panthers Down Fayetteville State, 75-72, to Close Out Chris Paul HBCU Classic

Clark Atlanta finishes 2025 slate 7-3 overall and winners of six-straight

ATLANTA, Ga. – Jadyn Shider nabbed his second-straight double-double performance on the way to powering his Panthers to a 75-72 win over the Fayetteville State Broncos on Friday afternoon. With the win, the Panthers improve to 7-3 overall, winning six straight and going 2-0 in the Chris Paul HBCU Classic at Gateway Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED 
  • Both teams remained disciplined defensively in the first half, with Fayetteville State holding a narrow seven-point advantage with eight minutes left to play in the first. 
  • The Panthers closed out the first half on a 9-3 scoring run to knot the score at 35 apiece headed into the intermission.
  • Sam Kodi and Kalen White anchored the first half scoring for Clark Atlanta, with each scoring seven points apiece.
  • Neither team could get more than a four-point lead in the first half.
  • Shider and Kharye Cayne combined for 16 crucial points in the second half to help the Panthers pull away and win, 75-72. 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE 
  • The Panthers placed four players in double-figure scoring, with Jadyn Shider leading the charge with 15 points and 13 rebounds, Kalen White with 13 points, and Sam Kodi and Darnell Evans with 11 each.
  • On the defensive end, Kharye Cayne registered his third-straight game with three or more blocks as he swatted away three today. 
  • Clark Atlanta shot their best game from long range this season as they drained 60% of their shots from beyond the arc. 
  • The Panthers also edged the Broncos in second-chance points, 11-10.

Clark Atlanta gets a well-deserved break as they return to action on Saturday, January 3, to host Benedict College at 4 p.m. inside L.S. Epps Gymnasium.
