Smith Scores Game-High 16 Points to Push Lady Panthers Past Spring Hill

Lady Panthers improve to 10-4

ATLANTA, Ga. – Freshman Joirdyn Smith scored a game and season-high 16 points to help power her Lady Panthers past Spring Hill in a 30-point blowout (80-50) on Saturday afternoon inside L.S. Epps Gymnasium. With the win, Clark Atlanta improves to 10-4 and 5-2 in conference play. 

The Panthers (10-4, 6-2 SIAC) showcased their depth with 42 points from the bench. Joirdyn Smith led the charge with 16 points, connecting on four of six shots from beyond the arc. Atreonia Garner added 14 points, while Lizzie Walker contributed a near double-double with 11 points and nine rebounds.

Clark Atlanta used a 28-point second quarter to break open a close game. Leading 19-9 after the first period, the Panthers' relentless defensive pressure created opportunities in transition, helping them outscore the Badgers (5-9, 4-3 SIAC) 24-6 on fast breaks.

The Badgers struggled offensively, shooting just 29% from the field. Marta Duda led Spring Hill with 11 points and eight rebounds, while Laurie Severe chipped in nine points.
The Panthers dominated the paint, outscoring the Badgers 42-22 in the key. Corriana Evans was instrumental, tallying eight points and six rebounds, including key second-chance opportunities.

Clark Atlanta also flexed its defensive muscle, recording seven blocks and 11 steals while holding Spring Hill to single digits in the first quarter. Faith Bland led the defensive effort with three blocks and five rebounds.

Clark Atlanta returns to action on Wednesday, January 8 as they hit the road to face Spring Hill at 5:30 p.m. central time inside the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center.
