Panthers excel in non-conference action

ATLANTA, Ga. – The Clark Atlanta Panthers baseball team picked up two crucial wins over Morris College on Tuesday afternoon. The Panthers took game one 10-8 in an outstanding comeback effort followed by a 16-7 blowout win in game two to close out the day.

GAME ONE

Gabe Williams secured CAU's first score of the day after reaching home on a wild pitch to knot the score at one apiece in the first frame. The Panthers fell behind 5-1 going into the fourth inning, but Williams poised to mount a comeback homered to right field to bring in two runs and shrink the margin to 5-3. Clark Atlanta battled back to tie the score at six in the fifth inning after Demetrius McCants singled to bring Mario Cuevas in for a run, Alijah Robinson singled to bring in McCants, and Aderrius Barron doubled to score Robinson and give CAU a 7-6 advantage.

Morris College jumped back in front 8-7 in the sixth frame after a score on a passed ball and an RBI single.

In the bottom of the sixth, Mario Cuevas smashed a home run to right field to even the score at eight apiece. To secure the win, Robinson singled to score two runs and give Clark Atlanta a 10-8 lead headed into the seventh inning.
