Lady Panthers Fall to Defending SIAC Champs Spring Hill

Clark Atlanta's season ends in opening round of SIAC Tournament

ALBANY, Ga. – Clark Atlanta's Women's Volleyball team fell short today in the SIAC Women's Volleyball Tournament opening round against Spring Hill College. The final score was 3-1.
Clark Atlanta edged Spring Hill in a back-and-forth first set, blocking and key service aces secured the 25–22 victory. Clark Atlanta capitalized on multiple attack errors and a late surge of successful plays, including kills and blocks, closing the set on a 6–0 run, overcoming a narrow deficit, and clinching the win.

Spring Hill capitalized on multiple attack errors and executed timely kills from Brooklyn Hall often facilitated by Camille McDermott's in set two. CAU's efforts were controlled by Halle Mitchell and Madison Spells who kept the game within reach with key plays, but consistent blocking from the Spring Hill front line proved final. SHC sealed the second set at 25-10.

Clark Atlanta and Spring Hill College traded blows in this battle. Clark Atlanta's Shynique McGee, had some powerful spikes, while Spring Hill countered with a standout performance from Camille McDermott. The match swung like a swing, with both teams seizing the momentum. Ultimately, SHC surged ahead and sealed the final set 25-18.

In this last showdown, SHC emerged victorious against CAU. Lillie Casey and Airyonna Weaver dominated offensively, with Casey's consistent kills and Weaver's attacks. Despite a valiant effort by the Lady Panthers, led by Halle Mitchell, they couldn't overcome Spring Hill's precision. The set concluded with SHC securing a 25-22 win.

Shynique McGee led in kills with 17 and aces with three, while Halle Mitchell added nine kills and Madison Spells contributed seven kills and tied for the lead in blocks with four alongside Mitchell. Allanah Drayton-Campbell dominated in assists with 36, supported by Nakayla James with four assists. Defensively, James led in digs with 17, followed by Drayton-Campbell with nine and Sawyer Arbuckle with six. Dahlia Williams also added a block, rounding out the team's contributions.


Ending on a high note, Allanah Drayton-Campbell was named to the SIAC Women's Volleyball Second Team as a setter and Shynique McGee was selected to the SIAC Women's Volleyball First Team in back-to-back seasons.
