PREVIEW: Clark Atlanta Heads to Miles College on Saturday

CAU Looks to Snap Six-Game Losing Streak to Miles

ATLANTA, Ga. – The Clark Atlanta University football team will hit the road for the second-straight week as they head to Fairfield, Alabama to take on Miles College in a Saturday afternoon (Sept. 23) conference clash. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. CT kickoff on ESPN+.

MATCHUP PREVIEW
 
The Panthers hold an 0-3 record heading into Saturday's matchup against the Golden Bears. Miles College boasts a 2-1 record after losing to Division I Arkansas-Pine Bluff this past weekend. Saturday's contest will be the eighth meeting between the two programs dating back to 2010. Miles leads the series 6-1, having won six-straight games against Clark Atlanta.
 
CLARK ATLANTA
 
Clark Atlanta has had a rough start to the season as they only average 19.33 points per game while allowing opponents an average of 34 ppg. Despite the struggles, Clark Atlanta wins the time of possession battle over opponents 31:44-28:16.

Junior running back Daquon Kincey (Abbeville, Ala.) leads Clark Atlanta in several categories including touchdowns (6), rushing yards (155), and yards per game (39.33). Kincey has scored two touchdowns in each game this season for the Panthers.

Quarterback Heath Williams Jr. (Clarksville, Tenn.) leads the team in passing with a QB rating of 148.47 and a 63% completion percentage. The Clarksville, Tennessee native has a team-high 294 yards and one touchdown. 

MILES COLLEGE

The Golden Bears are off to a solid start to the year after taking down Division I FCS opponent Alabama State 21-17 in week two. Miles College averages 26 points per game this season while holding opponents to 20.67 points per game.

MC averages 232.33 yards per game in the air and 146.3 yards on the ground. 

LAST TIMEOUT

Clark Atlanta looks to get into the win column for the first time in 2023 after starting 0-3 for the first time since the 2019 campaign. The Panthers fought hard against Savannah State this past Saturday but the Tigers outlasted the Panthers 28-21 in their home opener. 

Daquon Kincey led the charge for Clark Atlanta with 138 total yards and two touchdowns on the night.
  
UPCOMING SCHEDULE

The Panthers return home on Saturday, September 30, as they host the Lane College Dragons. Kickoff is slated for 2 p.m. inside Panther Stadium.
