PREVIEW: Volleyball Looks to Remain Undefeated at Home

CAU Looks to Extend Win Streak to Three Games

ATLANTA, GA. (SEPTEMBER 11, 2023) – The Clark Atlanta women's volleyball team looks to remain undefeated at home as they defend Epps Gymnasium on Tuesday, September 12, against the Albany State Golden Rams. First serve is set for 6 p.m.

MATCHUP PREVIEW
 
Clark Atlanta heads into Tuesday's matchup with a 2-2 record (1-0, SIAC) after taking down FVSU in Wednesday's (Sept. 6) home opener at Epps Gymnasium. The Golden Rams of Albany State sit at 2-5 overall with a 2-0 record in SIAC play. Tuesday's match will be the 29th meeting between the two programs since 2011. Albany State leads the series 21-7. The Golden Rams have also won eight of the last 10 meetings.
 
CLARK ATLANTA
 
As a team, Clark Atlanta has an attack percentage of .107 compared to their opponents' average of .148. The Lady Panthers average 7.9 assists per set and 8.4 kills per set. CAU also averages 42.0 points per match, including a season-high 71 points in their win over Erskine. 

Shynique McGee (Atlanta, Ga.) and Halle Mitchell (Denton, Texas) are tied for a team-high in kills with a total of 30 each. Mitchell looks to extend her double-figure kill streak to three games after posting 10 against Fort Valley and 15 against Erskine. The Lone Star State native also leads the team in attack percentage with a .389 average. 

Allanah Drayton-Campbell (Duncanville, Texas) continues to excel at the setter position as she sits at a team-high 55 assists in the first four games.

On the defensive end, freshman libero Nakayla James (Altamonte Springs, Fla.) has a team-high 38 digs with an average of 2.71 digs per set. Fellow freshman Dahlia Williams (Fairburn, Ga.) continues to dominate on the defensive side of the net as she leads the Lady Panthers with 12 total blocks. 

ALBANY STATE

The Golden Rams head into Tuesday's match with an attack percentage of .112 and an average of 10.3 kills per set. ASU has also registered 41 service aces on the season.

Defensively, Albany State has registered 46 total blocks and an average of 1.7 per set.
  
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
 
The Clark Atlanta Lady Panthers hit the road on Thursday, September 14, as they take on Wiley College at 4 p.m. followed by Talladega College at 6 p.m. as a part of the Talladega College Tri-Match.
