ROME, Ga. | Despite taking an early 3-1 lead, the Clark Atlanta baseball team fell short on the road to the Shorter Hawks 7-4 in non-conference action on Tuesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Daniel Gay scored on a balk in the first inning to put the Panthers in front 1-0.
• Shorter tied the score at one apiece at the bottom of the first inning.
• Eason Bing singled to left field to bring Kentavious Veal in for the score to give CAU a 2-1 advantage.
• Bing stole home plate to extend the lead to 3-1 at the top of the third.
• The Hawks scored six unanswered runs to take a 7-3 lead in the eighth inning.
• Daniel gay scored on a passed ball in the ninth but the Panthers couldn't mount a comeback and fell 7-4 to Shorter.

ON THE MOUND 

• ZyKoabi Randolph took the loss on the mound for CAU. Randolph pitched four innings. 
• Justice Page registered one strikeout in two innings pitched.
• Jermyn Brock Jr. and Michael Fegins each pitched one inning apiece for the Panthers.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• Kentavious Veal led the Panthers in hits with three on the day and a single run.
• Daniel Gay, Eason Bing, Andrew Garner, and Asa Waites each recorded one hit apiece in the loss.
• Gay led in runs with a total of two.
