ATLANTA, Ga. | The Clark Atlanta women's tennis team opened the 2023 slate with a 6-1 win over the Shorter University Hawks on Saturday afternoon at the Clark Atlanta Tennis Center.

DOUBLES PLAY

CAU's duo of Wynter Clemons and Shani Idlette picked up a 6-2 victory over Andrea Medel and Sharick Guiza to start the day for the Panthers. The Lady Panthers followed up with a 7-6, 7-5 win from Madison Moffatt and Gabrielle Blanks over Sydney Wright and Jessica Brown. Clark Atlanta's lone doubles play loss came as Shereese Henry and Jumai Muhammed fell short to Amelie Fryer and Emma Novis, 7-5.

SINGLES PLAY

Kristen Blount started singles play with a heartbreaking 6-1, 6-1 loss to Andrew Medel. Jumai Muhammed was able to keep the singles point alive as she took down Sharick Guiza 6-1, 6-1 in the second singles match. The Lady Panthers were able to pick up another crucial win as Shani Idlette prevailed 6-3, 6-4 over Emma Novis. Wynter Clemons also found success in singles play as she walked away with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Jessica Brown. Lastly, Gabrielle Blanks closed out the day with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Amelie Fryer to secure the 6-1 win for the Lady Panthers.
