Panthers Baseball Splits Doubleheader with Morris College

SUMTER, S.C. | The Clark Atlanta University Panthers baseball team fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 9-4 loss to Morris College Hornets Varsity on Wednesday. 

Morris College Hornets scored on a passed ball during Korique Rainey's at bat in the first inning, an error in the first inning, a single by Guillermo Morel in the second inning, a single by Rainey in the second inning, and a walk by Jeremy Roberts in the second inning.

Clark Atlanta tallied four runs in the fifth inning. Justice Page and Darrin Brown powered the big inning with RBIs.

The Hornets scored three runs in the sixth inning. Tijawan Black and Bravion Rose all drove in runs in the frame.

Andrew McRae pitched Morris College to victory. McRae lasted five innings, allowing six hits and four runs while striking out four. Rainey threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Jorden Dixon took the loss for CAU. The lefthander went one and two-thirds innings, allowing five runs on three hits.

Clark Atlanta launched one home run on the day and Brown put one out in the fifth inning.

CAU totaled six hits in the game.  Kentavious Veal and Daniel Gay each racked up multiple hits for Clark Atlanta University Panthers Varsity. Gay and Veal all had two hits to lead Clark Atlanta University Panthers Varsity.

GAME 2 

SUMTER, S.C. |
The Clark Atlanta men's baseball team picked up their third win of the season as they outlasted Sumter College 14-7 in the second game of Wednesday night's doubleheader.

Clark Atlanta University Panthers Varsity collected ten hits and Morris College Hornets Varsity had six in the high-scoring affair.

In the first inning, Clark Atlanta got their offense started when Darrin Brown drove in a runner with a double.

Morris College tied the score at five apiece in the bottom of the second inning. An error scored one run for MC.

CAU pulled away for good with two runs in the third inning.  

The Panthers notched five runs in the fifth inning. Michael Fegins, Asa Waites, and ZyKoabi Randolph each drove in runs during the inning.

Fegins was credited with the victory for CAU. The pitcher lasted two innings, allowing one hit and one run while striking out two and walking one. Randolph, Waites, and ______ all put in work in relief out of the bullpen, steering their team toward victory.

John Roberts took the loss for the Hornets. The righty went one and two-thirds innings, allowing five runs on six hits and striking out one.

Jermyn Brock Jr started the game for Clark Atlanta. The ace lasted one and one-third innings, allowing two hits and four runs while striking out one and walking one

Clark Atlanta collected ten hits on the day. Brown and Waites each had multiple hits for Clark Atlanta. Brown led Clark with three hits in four at-bats.

Korique Rainey went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Morris College Hornets Varsity in hits.
