Panthers Place Five in Double Figures in Exhibition Loss to Georgia Tech

Clark Atlanta shows promise in Exhibition against Georgia Tech

ATLANTA, Ga. – The Panthers landed five players in double-figure scoring in a 91-75 exhibition loss to Division I Georgia Tech on Wednesday evening inside McCamish Pavilion. Dez'Mond Perkins and Xavier Griffith led the Panthers in scoring with 14 points each on the night.

Despite the loss, Clark Atlanta led Georgia Tech in bench points (34) and points off turnovers (21). 

Clark Atlanta held an early 4-0 advantage but the Yellow Jackets spurred a 17-0 run to take a 17-4 lead at the 15:19 mark in the first half. The Panthers responded with a 14-8 scoring run to cut Georgia Tech's advantage to seven with 10 minutes left to play in the half. 

Xavier Griffith logged six of his 14 points in the first half to send the Panthers into the intermission down 43-28.

Clark Atlanta was able to get within six (48-42) with 14:27 left to play in regulation but Georgia Tech outscored the Panthers by a narrow 48-47 margin in the second half to down CAU 91-75 in Wednesday's exhibition.

Dez'Mond Perkins led the offensive charge, scoring 14 points on 6-for-13 shooting from the field and five rebounds to add. Xavier Griffith also added 14 points and two rebounds for the Panthers. 

Chris Martin went 10-of-14 from the charity stripe to finish with 12 points for CAU. Demetrius Headspeth added 10 points and six boards. Jalen Williams rounded out the double-figure scorers with 10 points on 3-for-8 shooting from the field.

Clark Atlanta will complete the exhibition slate on Monday (Nov. 8) as they head to Mercer University for a 7 p.m. tipoff inside Hawkins Arena.
