ATLANTA, Ga. – Clark Atlanta would use a 16-0 run and Gwarren Douglas came off the bench and led three Panthers in double figures with 17 points leading the Panthers to a 66-63 win over Edwards Waters in a Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) game.
The Panthers are now 4-12 overall and 3-7 in the SIAC while Edward Waters drops to 3-11 overall and 2-9 in the conference.
Jalen Williams (12) and Demetrius Headspeth (11) also scored in double figures in the win for Clark Atlanta. Headspeth had a team-high eight rebounds while Williams led the way with four assists.
The Panthers were 24 of 65 from the floor (36.9 percent) and made 7 of 23 from behind the arc.
Edward Waters led by as many as eight in the first half, 29-21 with 2:20 left, but the Panthers scored the final seven points of the half and trailed 29-28 at the break.
The run would continue as Clark Atlanta scored the first nine of the second half to close the 16-0 run and take a 37-29 lead with 17:41 left.
Edward Waters would get as close as four at 55-51 before the Panthers ran off six straight pushing the lead to 61-51 with 5:34 left. Edward Waters would respond with a 7-0 run to make the score 61-58 with 3:28 left.
Headspeth would score back-to-back buckets pushing the lead to 65-57 with 2:08 left to seal the game.
Clark Atlanta is back in action on Monday at home against Savannah State in an SIAC game at 8:00.
