Page and Freeman Lead CAU to 27-3 Rout of Morris College

Justice Page hit for the cycle as the Clark Atlanta Panthers ended their seven-game losing streak by routing Morris College 27-3 in Denmark, S.C. Friday.

Clark Atlanta (8-25, 1-16 SIAC) also saw Jerry Freeman homer for the second time in three games as CAU rapped out 18 hits on the day.

CAU got on the board in the top of the second when Freeman doubled and then scored on a Page double. DeAndre Swift then scored on an error by the Morris catcher, followed by Gay scoring after Jalen Mason reached on an error.  Khalil Manuel then doubled in Andrew Garner, followed by a Freeman grand slam that made it 8-0. 

Morris answered with two runs in the bottom of the second, but CAU got a two-run RBI single in the third from Garner and a Mason single that drove in two more to make it 12-2 as CAU broke the game open.

CAU added ten runs in the fourth inning, a run in the both the fifth and sixth innings, and then three more in the top of the seventh.

Page was 4-for-5 with seven runs batted in and he scored three times.  Freeman had a double and homer, driving in four runs and scoring four times. Manuel had two hits, drove in two runs and scored three times. Garner had two hits, four RBIs and two runs scored, while Eason Bing and Swift also had two hits each.

On the mound, D'Artrey Brinson got the win after allowing just two runs on five hits over three innings, while also striking out two. Page also struck out two during the final inning.

The Panthers head to Columbia, S.C., Saturday and Sunday as they step back into Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play when they take on Benedict College.  Tomorrow at 1 p.m. they will play a doubleheader against Benedict while playing a single game at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
