Eason Bing has been named the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference's Baseball Player of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.
Bing, a sophomore infielder from Decatur, Ga., had a huge week last week as he went 11-for-16 with seven runs batted in, scoring ten runs, hitting a home run and stealing two bases last week. Against Morris College, Bing had two hits and scored two runs in the CAU's 27-3 victory. In three games against Benedict College, Bing was 9-for-14 with seven RBIs and eight runs scored as Clark Atlanta swept a three-game series on the road over the Tigers.
Also nominated for Player of the Week honors was fellow infielder
Justice Page, who hit for the cycle (including a grand slam home run) in the game against Morris College. He also went 4-for-5 in one of the games against Bendict, with two home runs - one a grand slam - give RBIs and three runs scored. He either had an RBI or scored in each game in the series.
The Panthers, who have won four in a row, head to Claflin University tomorrow for a 6 p.m. single game. They then return home Friday when they start a three-game series at home against Atlanta University Center rival Morehouse College at Bill Evans Field in College Park, Ga., They play a single game Friday which begins at 4 p.m, and then a doubleheader on Saturday, beginning at 2 p.m.
