In a hard-fought battle that took two overtimes to decide it, the Clark Atlanta Panthers lost a heartbreaker to Atlanta University Center rival Morehouse 90-91 at Forbes Arena Saturday.
In a game that went back and forth with neither team getting a lead larger than seven points, Clark Atlanta (8-13, 3-10 SIAC) led by three points after
Vernice Seriale III's 3-pointer made it 86-83 with 2.57 remaining in the second overtime.

Andrew Stewart got a steal for Morehouse (15-6, 12-2 SIAC) with 2:12 left and was fouled by Seriale. Stewart hit one of two free throws to pull the Maroon Tigers to within two at 86-84. After a missed jumper by CAU with 1:37 left, Billy Thomas hit a 3-pointer for Morehouse to put them up 87-86. Â
Jalen Williams went to the line for CAU after being fouled with 53 seconds left and hit one of two of his free throws to tie the game at 87-87.Â
Shannon Smith fouled Noah Morgan 15 seconds later and Morgan connected on two free throws to put Morehouse up 89-87. A
Justin Longstreet turnover on a steal by Morgan, who was fouled by Williams, led Morgan connecting on two more free throws to go up 91-87 with six seconds left. Smith hit a 3-pointer with three seconds remaining, but Morehouse was able to get the rebound and run the clock out for the win.
In a close game where Clark Atlanta shot better than Morehouse (43.2 percent to 38.2 percent), free throws made a big difference. CAU hit 10-19 (55.6 percent) while Morehouse was 23-of-30 (76.7 percent) from the free throw line.
Clark Atlanta was led by Williams who finished with 30 points, ten rebounds, two assists and a steal. Smith had 19 points with five 3-pointers, three steals, two blocks, four assists and four rebounds. Longstreet had 18 points, six rebounds, three steals and an assist. Seriale had five points, five rebounds, three steals and three assists while
Javonte Sterling added eight points and four rebounds.
Andrew Stewart had 18 points, four steals and four assists for Morehouse, while Xavier Brewer had 10 points and 12 rebounds.
Clark Atlanta is back on the road Monday when they head to South Georgia to take on Albany State (8-14, 6-7 SIAC) at 8 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 14.
