Panthers Drop Heartbreaker in OT


ATLANTA, Ga.-- Devin Booker hit a 3-pointer for Tuskegee with one second left in regulation to send the game to overtime and the Golden Tigers beat the Panthers 72-65 in a Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) game.

Jalen Williams made a pair of free throws with four seconds left to give Clark Atlanta a 62-59 lead before Booker's 3-pointer with one second left sent the game to overtime.

In the extra session, Tuskegee scored the first eight points for a 70-62 lead with 2:29 left and the Golden Tigers outscored Clark Atlanta 10-3 for the win.

Tuskegee improves to 7-3 overall and 2-2  in the SIAC while the Panthers are now 1-7 overall and 0-3 in conference play.

Gwarren Douglas had a season-high 22 points while Jalen Wlliams had a double-double with 22 points to go with a season and game-high 11 rebounds. His first double-double of the season.

Clark shot 43.8 percent from the floor (21-48) and made 6 of 17 (35.3 percent) from behind the arc while Tuskegee was 24 of 59 (40.7 percent) from the field and connected on 7 of 24 (29.2 percent) from 3-point range. 

The Panthers trailed 8-2 early and took their first lead on a bucket by Wyatt Horace III with 9:52 left in the first half. Tuskegee would later use a 10-2 run to take a 26-19 lead with 3:58 left in the opening half. Tuskegee led 31-27 at halftime.

Booker would pull the Panthers even 38-38 on a basket with 13:50 left to start a 6-0 spurt giving Clark Atlanta a 42-38 lead.

The Panthers led 59-54 in the final three minutes before back-to-back baskets by Douglas, the second, a dunk, tying the game 59-59 with 1:48 left in the second half.

Williams made one free throw with 15 seconds left and then the pair with four seconds left for the 62-59 lead before Booker sent the game to overtime.

The Panthers are back in action on Saturday night at 7:00 at Winston-Salem State University in a non-conference game.
