Lady Panthers Champion over Lane College 71-63

JACKSON,TN—The Lady Panther secure the win on the road against  Lane College, Thursday December 15 in Jackson, TN.
 
Tensions were high as the Clark Atlanta tipped off against the Lady Dragons. Both teams were neck and neck, finishing 19-17 at the end of the first quarter. Janiah Ellies shot for three at the key the first minute of the second quarter, making it a five-point difference.
 
 The Lady Panthers continued to run up the score, finishing 39-25 at the end of the half. Janiah Ellis was electrifying in the half, scoring 10 points. She was aided by Hannah White with nine points and Trinity Jones with seven. 
 
The Panthers continued to maintain their lead through the third quarter. Ellis was on fire at the key, score two three-pointers back-to-back before the five-minute mark. Evans dominated the paint putting up four points and seven rebounds. 
 
The Lady Dragons was not ready to give up just yet and began trying to close the gap. Kayla Simmons continued to hammer out points putting up six points with a little less than five minutes left in the game. Mina Guevara-Gross laid up two points in the paint after a fast break from Carnessia Griggs, giving the Lady Dragons a one-point lead 59-58.
 
With Lane College in the lead, the Panthers continued to fight till the last second. Evans was fouled by Kayla Simmons and made both free throws, making the score 60-59. Evans then forced a turnover and Trinity Jones followed up with a fast break for two. 
 
Ellis continued to score a three at the key with the assist from White. And after a major block from Rose Smith, Evans was able to rebound and pass to Ellis for another fast break layup making the score 67-60 with one minute left in the game. With no time left, the Dragons fouled Jones who made both of her free throws, securing the Panthers Win. 
 
Ellis dominated the game with a total of 22 points, three rebounds, and three steals. She was followed by Jones with 17 points, one rebound, and three assists. White scored nine points, two rebounds, and four assist. Evans had 11 points and a whopping 17 rebounds this game, earning her second double double of the season. 
 
The Lady Panthers will continue on the road this weekend as they take on LeMoyne Owen Saturday at 2pm CT.
