Reagan Jackson scored a game-high 29 points but it wasn't enough as Clark Atlanta fell to Albany State 69-62 Monday at L.S. Epps Gymnasium.
It was the second consecutive loss for CAU (4-12, 4-4 SIAC) after the Lady Panthers had won their two previous games.Ā  CAU remains in fourth place in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference East Division race. Albany State (8-11, 7-3 SIAC) is in third.
Monday, Clark Atlanta and Albany State traded the lead before halftime with 
Corriana Evans hitting a jumper to give the Lady Panthers 22-21 lead with 4:37 left in the second quarter. ASU's Kashay Hankerson followed with a 3-ponter to put the Golden Rams up by two.Ā  ASU got that lead up to as many as nine points while CAU hit only two other baskets in the final four minutes of the half.
After leading 33-27 at halftime, ASU was up by six points when Jackson hit a layup and then two 3-pointers to put CAU ahead 37-35 with 7:27 left in the third quarter. Evans' layup made it 39-35 three minutes later.Ā Ā  ASU quickly countered with five straight baskets, retaking the lead and pushing it up to seven points.Ā  But two baskets by Evans, a Jackson 3-pointer and 
Denise Stine's layup tied the game at 49-49 heading into the fourth quarter.
The fourth quarter saw CAU take the lead early after 
Alexis Mann's basket made it 53-51 with 7:35 remaining.Ā  But it was the final lead for the Lady Panthers as they were outscored 18-9 the rest of the way as ASU took the win.
ASU has now won the last four meetings between the two schools.Ā  CAU was out-rebounded 40-33 and committed 31 turnovers leading to 32 Golden Rams points.
Jackson finished with 29 points, five rebounds, four assists and four steals, while Evans had 15 points, seven rebounds, five blocks and two steals. Mann had one basket but led the team with eight rebounds and had five blocks.Ā  
Brianna Pope had seven points and five rebounds.
ASU was led by Hankerson's 23 points.
The Lady Panthers are back on the floor at L.S. Epps Gymnasium on Saturday, Jan. 29 when they host Benedict College (12-6, 7-2 SIAC) at 2 p.m.
