The Clark Atlanta University Lady Panthers volleyball team jumps into Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play this weekend when take part in the SIAC Crossover Tournament in Carterville, Ga.
Starting today, the Lady Panthers (1-2) will face SIAC West Division opponents Friday through Sunday at the Lake Point Sports Complex. At 6 p.m. today, CAU takes on LeMoyne-Owen.
CAU is coming off their first win of the season – a 3-0 shutout at Paine College Tuesday – after falling to Albany State in the season opener and Edward Waters two days later. Senior
Kia Thomas has led the Lady Panthers so far this season, picking up SIAC Offensive Player of the Week honors this past week after making 21 kills in the first two games.
In the Paine win, junior
Kiara Finley had double-digit kills in just her third game in a CAU uniform.
Amirah Bentley, a setter who missed most of the 2019 because of an injury, has been steady already this season with 20 and 29 assists in her first two games back.

Makayla Murphy and
Lauryn Terry have also been major contributors so far.
Saturday, CAU opens the day against Lane at 9 a.m., then face Kentucky State at noon. Their final match Saturday will be against Central State at 3 p.m. Sunday will play Tuskegee at 9 a.m., Spring Hill at noon, and Miles at 3 p.m.
The Lady Panthers return to L.S. Epps Gymnasium on Monday, Oct. 4 when they host Valdosta State at 6 p.m.
