Darrin Brown had three hits, scored four times and drove in two runs Wednesday as the Clark Atlanta University Panthers baseball team split a doubleheader at Tuskegee.
The first game was a rough one for the Panthers (1-4) as CAU could only muster two hits off of Tuskegee's Jalan Daniels. – an
Eason Bing single in the third inning and a Brown hit in the fourth. Brown also walked. Daniels struck out 12 Panthers in the 17-0 win for Tuskegee (3-5)Â
Tuskegee's Ronald McGhee homered and Joshua Lewis had three hits and scored four times.
In Game Two, CAU (2-4) erupted for six first-inning runs and held off Tuskegee (3-6) for a 9-6 victory. Brown doubled in two runs and scored on an error in the first inning, with
Jakir Jackson singling in two more runs later in the inning.Â
Justice Page added a double to right field that scored
Deandre Swift. Brown scored again in the second, fourth (after his leadoff single), and sixth innings for the Panthers.
Tuskegee outscored CAU 5-3 from the second inning on, including two in the sixth to pull within three. But the Panthers'
Lorenzo Peterson – who struck out eight and scattered seven hits to get the complete game win – struck out Tuskegee's Dominic Johnson to seal the win.
Clark Atlanta will be off for a week before they head to north Georgia to take on Shorter University on Wednesday, March 31 before going to Savannah to take on Savannah State in a single game on Friday, April 2 and a doubleheader on Saturday, April 3.
