Clark Atlanta fell victim to a second half spurt by Montevallo as the Panthers fell to the Falcons 84-76 on the road Thursday.

After Clark Atlanta (0-3) held Montevallo (2-1) to only nine baskets in the first half, the Falcons hit 15-of 23 of their second half shots (65 percent), along with eight 3-pointers. 

Clark Atlanta was up by as many as 11 points in the second half after Romaine Thomas' layup gave the Panthers a 52-41 lead with 14:32 remaining.

But over the next eleven minutes, Montevallo outscored CAU 34-15 and turned that 11-point deficit into an 8-point lead – 75-67 with 3:54 left.   During that spurt, Montevallo's Cedric
Jackson had 17 points on five 3-pointers while Wade Lowman had ten points.

Montevallo's then grew to as many as ten as they took the win.

Thomas led Clark Atlanta with 24 points, five rebounds, two steals and two blocks, while Tyler Singleton added 21 points, four assists and a steal.  Traylen Warren had 15 points, six rebounds and three assists.  Colin Bell had seven points and eight rebounds and Ian Roach finished with nine points and six rebounds.

Jonas Parker led Montevallo with 24 points and 12 rebounds, while Jackson finished with 23 points.

The Panthers are back home at L.S. Epps Gymnasium on Sunday, Nov. 17 when CAU hosts Xavier University of New Orleans at 4 p.m.
