Jalisa Jones Has 14 But CAU Falls to LeMoyne-Owen 78-54

Playing in front of her hometown crowd, Jalisa Jones had her best day as a Lady Panther, but Clark Atlanta lost to LeMoyne-Owen Monday 78-54.

Jones, a junior from Memphis, Tenn., had eight points in a first quarter in which Clark Atlanta (2-14, 1-6 SIAC) jumped out to an 18-17 first quarter lead over LeMoyne-Owen (7-8, 4-3 SIAC).

LeMoyne-Owen battled back, tying the game early in the second quarter on Ciera Cunning's layup that made it 22-20 with 8:21 left before the half. Nailah-Mawusi Mitchell followed with a 3-pointer that put the Lady Panthers back in front, 23-22.

But that would be the last time Clark Atlanta would be in front.   The Lady Magicians took 36-32 lead into the half.  They extended that lead to as many 18 points late in the third quarter, and as many as 20 points twice in the fourth to take the win.

Jones led three Lady Panthers in double figures with 14 points, while also grabbing seven rebounds.  Reagan Jackson had 13 points, and Jamila Mitchell also had 13 points, with four rebounds and two assists. Nailah-Mawusi Mitchell had seven points and 13 rebounds, with
Reyana Miller added six points, eight rebounds and four assists.

Dana Gettis and Lamontazia Blair both had 21 points and combined for 11 rebounds.

The Lady Panthers are back on the road Saturday when they visit Benedict College at 1 p.m. and then Paine College on Monday, Jan. 14. Clark Atlanta returns to L.S. Epps Gymnasium on Saturday, Jan. 19 when they host Albany State at 2 p.m.
