Women's Basketball Falls in Final Home Game of Season; 81-72

ATLANTA, Ga. – Clark Atlanta played the last home game of the year. After falling behind by as many as 18, CAU competed in a classy effort to send their seniors off well. A showdown between two feisty teams proved to be a great battle. Ultimately Clark Atlanta fell to Miles in the final game at L.S. Epps Gymnasium for a pair of Panthers; 81-72.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
First Quarter | Lauren Turner opens the game with a mid-range jump shot to tie the game early. The Lady Golden Bears responded with an 8-0 run to make the score 10-2. Nicole Graham hit a long 3-pointer to cut the Miles lead to six. Turner goes coast-to-coast with 1:27 left in the quarter to bring the Panthers within two. The Lady Golden Bears held the ball for the last shot, but failed to get anything going. They led by two.

Second Quarter | Miles started the second quarter with a Larian Scott three ball. Lauren Turner blew past the defender to score her eighth point of the game. The Panthers let up two mini runs as the Lady Bears opened another double-digit lead. The Panthers went into the half down by 11.  

Third Quarter | Clark Atlanta came out sluggish on defense, and let up four straight points from Scott. The offense came alive as the crowd roared at a corner 3 from Turner. The Panthers proceed to go on an 8-0 run. Defense leads for quick buckets for the Panthers as they cut the deficit to five with 2:44 left to go. The Panthers were outscored 3-6 in the final minute of the quarter to fall behind by 10.

Fourth Quarter | Sydni Davis and Marissa Mandeldove combine for two back-to-back steals that led to points to cut the Lady Bears lead to six. Kiyanna Johnson got to the basket and drew the foul to finish the and1 foul. After falling behind by as many as 13 the Panthers, despite producing several turnovers, were outmatched on the boards.

TEAM NUMBERS:
The Panthers shot 24-for-78 (30.8 percent) from the floor. The Panthers shot 4-for-25 (16.0 percent) from beyond the arc, and 20-for-33 (82.4 percent) from the FT line.

INDIVIDUAL NUMBERS:
Turner had the team-high with 18 points while Johnson added 17.
 
Turner grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds to record her eight double-double of the season.

SENIORS:
Sydni Davis scored nine points while adding six rebounds, three assists and three steals in her final home game as a senior. Nicole Graham had seven points, four rebounds and two assists to end her final game from L.S. Epps Gymnasium
