Defensive Adjustments Key Win Over Morehouse; 71-66

ATLANTA, Ga. - Clark Atlanta men's basketball utilized some defensive adjustments to overcome the first half in the come-from-behind win over Morehouse; 71-66.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
First Half | Clark Atlanta struggled in the opening half shooting just 23.3 percent on 7-of-30 from the floor. CAU trailed at the intermission; 32-25 as Damien Davis and Derek Harper paced the way with eight points in the first 20 minutes of play with Morehouse closing the half on a 6-0 run.
 
Second Half | After an early FT for Morehouse. Clark Atlanta tied the game on an 8-0 run featuring six points from Tajai Johnson; 33-33. Morehouse retook the lead on the heels of a 10-2 run; 43-35. Harper tied the game, 49-49, with a 3-pointer starting a back-and-forth where no lead was larger than three points until CAU closed the game with a 7-0 run that began with Lawrance Triplett making the jumper as he was fouled. Triplett's FT gave the Panthers the one-point lead, 67-66, before a Johnson jumper and two more from the FT line for Triplett to end the game.

TEAM NUMBERS:
Clark Atlanta shot 17-for-30 in the seconds half on the way to shooting 24-for-60 (40 percent) from the floor for the game. CAU was 16-for-22 from the FT line.
 
Clark Atlanta forced 17 turnovers on the way to leading the battle in points off turnovers; 16-10. The Panthers also held the advantage in points in the paint, 30-24, and fast break scoring, 18-10.
 
CAU led the game for 13:03 (32.6 percent) with the ending margin being the largest Panther lead of the game.

INDIVIDUAL NUMBERS:
Davis led all scorers with 19 points while Johnson (18) and Harper (17) also scored in double figures.
 
Three Panthers tied for the team-high as Davis, Johnson and Triplett all hauled in seven rebounds.
 
Tim Sanders tied for the game-high with six assists while Anthony Williams had the game-high three steals.

UP NEXT:
Clark Atlanta will play host to Paine College on Feb. 2 with both the men's and women's teams in action beginning at 6:00 p.m. from L.S. Epps Gymnasium.
