MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Clark Atlanta women's basketball returned to the court following the Christmas break with road games in Tennessee. The Panthers fell in the opening game of the trip at Lane (89-78) before picking up the victory at LeMoyne-Owen (72-70).

HOW IT HAPPENED (LANE GAME):
First Quarter | The teams flip-flopped the early lead until
Reyana Miller put Clark Atlanta ahead, 8-7, with 7:17 remaining completing the three-point play after being fouled on a layup. Miller stretched the lead to double-digits with another layup, 23-12, and the Panthers ended the quarter with a 13 point lead, 27-14, after
Nicole Graham connected on a 3-pointer with the Miller assist.

Second Quarter | Clark Atlanta led by 15 early in the second quarter, 29-14, as
Lauren Turner made a jumper. Lane would cut the deficit to five points, 37-32, after embarking on a 12-5 run over 3:29 midway through the quarter. Turner, Miller, and
Marissa Mandeldove would score the final six points of the half with CAU leading 43-32.

Third Quarter | Lane opened the second half on a 7-0 run to cut the lead to four points before CAU got on the board with a layup by Miller with 8:12 left in the third quarter, 45-39. Lane later tied the game, 45-45, and took the lead, 50-49, after a three-point play.
Naquaisha Rattray tied the game back up, 55-55, on a jumper before the Lady Dragons ended the third quarter on a 5-0 run leading 60-55.

Fourth Quarter | Turner scored the opening jumper of the fourth quarter and added a 3-pointer to tie the game, 62-62, with 8:39 left in the game. Clark Atlanta would lead for the last time, 71-70, after Rattray connected on a layup before Lane closed the game on a 19-7 run.
TEAM NUMBERS:
Clark Atlanta shot 27-for-55 (49.1 percent) from the floor and was good on 19-of-28 FT attempts.

The Panthers held the advantage in scoring from the paint, 28-24. CAU scored 11 points off of 12 Lane turnovers.
INDIVIDUAL NUMBERS:
Turner returned from a injury that cost her a month of action to record her team-high second double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds.

Mandeldove scored a game-high 24 points as Miller (11) and Rattray (10) each also scored in double-digits.

Sydni Davis posted a team-high three assists.
HOW IT HAPPENED (LeMOYNE-OWEN GAME):
First Quarter | Kiyanna Johnson put CAU ahead early, 3-2, after connecting on a 3-pointer after 1:32 had been played. Johnson added another 3 along with a fast break layup after picking up the steal to move CAU back ahead 13-10. Mandeldove scored the next three points for the Panthers with a FT before a fast break layup gave the Panthers the 16-10 lead. Johnson added 3-pointers on back-to-back possessions to give CAU the 22-13 advantage and later added another 3-pointer before the quarter ended to have CAU leading 27-18 after the opening quarter.

Second Quarter | LeMoyne-Owen outscored Clark Atlanta 18-13 as CAU held the four-point lead heading to halftime, 40-36, as Graham scored with three second to play before intermission on another fast break opportunity for the Panthers.

Third Quarter | Rattray started the second half with a jumper in the paint after eight seconds for the 42-36 lead. After a Lane layup Graham added a 3-pointer off of the assist from Mandeldove. LOC used an 11-4 to tie the game with 2:32 left in the quarter at 49-49. Rattray broke the tie by grabbing the offensive rebounds and putting back as CAU would not trail again in the quarter. After LOC tied the game again, 55-55, Turner added the jumper in the paint as the quarter ended with the Panthers holding the 57-55 lead.

Fourth Quarter | CAU would hold the four-point advantage a couple times early in the fourth quarter before eventually trailing 67-65 with 3:50 left to play. A 3-pointer from Graham put CAU ahead by two and a Mandeldove layup moved the CAU lead to 70-67 with 1:22 left. With 19 seconds to play LOC connected on a 3-pointer to tie the game at 70-70. As the clock expired Mandeldove was able to connect on a layup to beat the buzzer.
TEAM NUMBERS:
Clark Atlanta shot 28-for-76 (36.8 percent) from the floor and while going 7-for-13 from the FT line. LOC visited the FT line 33 times in the game.

The Panthers held the advantages in points off turnovers, 19-13, and fast break scoring, 12-4, while forcing the Lady Magicians into 21 turnovers.
INDIVIDUAL NUMBERS:
Johnson scored a team-high 23 points thanks to 6-for-12 from behind the 3-point line. Mandeldove (15) and Graham (14) also reached double-digit scoring.

Rattray had a team-high eight rebounds while Miller and Mandeldove each dished out five assists.
UP NEXT:
CAU returns home for the next two games as SIAC action returns to Epps Gymnasium with Central State visiting on Jan 5 and Kentucky State visiting on Jan. 7.
