ATLANTA, Ga. - The 2016 season opened against a familiar foe having began the 2015 season also versus Tuskegee. Clark Atlanta trailed by just nine points at the break, but fell at home to the No. 17 Golden Tigers; 36-13.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Junior
Johnathon McCrary started the game at quarterback. The former Vanderbilt starter went 3-for-7 passing for 27 yards and a pair of interceptions - including one that was returned for a score - before being replaced by
Dashawn Blow.

McCrary led a scoring drive to end the first quarter as
Matthew Daniels rushed into the end zone from 4-yards to cut the deficit to 15-6. The drive covered 58 yards over eight plays and took 4:22 off the clock.

Clark Atlanta ended a second quarter drive covering 48 yards on 12 plays as Blow found
Jordan Dooley from seven yards out - the PAT attempt was good this time by
Carlos Saldana - cutting the deficit to 22-13.

A pair of Tuskegee second half touchdowns ended the scoring for the day.
OFFENSIVE NUMBERS
Blow went 9-for-25 in relief for 124 yards and the one score while also adding a pair of interceptions. Panther quarterbacks threw four interceptions in the game.

Daniels carried the ball 10 times for 76 yards - a game-high -with a longest run of 35 yards. The rushing attempts and yards are a new career best in each category.

Blow ran for 50 yards on nine carries with
Jaha McCray adding 29 yards on eight attempts.

Dooley hauled in three passes on the night while four Panthers added two receptions each - McCray,
Trenton Earl,
Deandre Jackson, and
Dre Martin.
DEFENSIVE NUMBERS
Jacob Mitchell (nine) and
Jaquatin Victrum (eight) led the defense in tackles. The duo also paced the defense in 2015.

Victrum caused the lone turnover by forcing a fumble and jumping on the loose ball.

Detavion Galmer picked up the lone CAU sack in the game while
Shaquan Mitchell blocked a PAT attempt on the first touchdown by the Golden Tigers.
TEAM NUMBERS
CAU won the first down battle, 19-15, along with outrushing the visitors, 136 yards to 133 yards.

The Panthers went 12-for-32 passing for 12.6 yards a completion.

Both teams were penalized double-digits for more than 100-yards. TU was flagged 10 times for 102 yards, while CAU saw 12 penalties assessed for 145 yards.

The Panthers will travel for an SIAC game to Chicago, Ill. to face Central State University. CAU trails the all-time series 0-2 after the 49-12 loss at home during the 2015 season.
