GAME NOTES: Football vs. Morehouse

ATLANTA, GA. - First Quarter Scoring: Clark Atlanta has gotten off to fast starts with 40 points scored in the first quarter this season. The Panthers have added 27 points in the second quarter to outpace the opposition through the first half. After halftime CAU trails the quarter-by-quarter scoring in both the third and fourth quarter.

Clark Atlanta continued the trend of early scoring with 21 points in the 1st quarter last week in the home win versus Ave Maria; 37-13.

In the win last week Clark Atlanta registered season bests in longest passing TD (34), longest rushing TD (12), and longest punt return (21).

Johnathon McCrary was named SIAC Newcomer of the Week after going 18-for-31 passing for 282 yards and two scores while completing passes to eight receivers. The 282 yards ranks second in the SIAC this season. McCrary also added a rushing score to account for three scores on the night.

The Panther offense ranks third in the SIAC with an average of 25.2 PPG. CAU averages 365.8 yards/G to rank No. 2 in the SIAC, the Panthers have totaled 1,463 yards on 258 plays.

Third Down has been successful for CAU on both sides of the ball. The offense is converting 34.5% (19-for-55) while holding the foe to 27.5 % (14-for-51) to rank third and fourth respectively among SIAC teams.

Carlos Saldana sits second in the SIAC having scored 23 points by kickers (5th overall). Saldana has gone 4-for-6 on FG attempts and 11-for-13 on PAT attempts. The freshman connected on three FGs last week and four PATs.

SERIES SPOTLIGHT:     In the series between schools here on the Atlanta University Center Campus, this will be the 89th game between the Panthers and Maroon Tigers. Clark Atlanta holds the advantage all-time, 49-36-3, with the 49 wins in the series representing the most for CAU versus any one opponent. During the history of the rivalry, the Panthers won 12 straight (1942-1953) and also had a 14-1 record (1963-1978).
