ATLANTA, Ga. - Clark Atlanta lost the opening set before defeating Talladega in the next three sets for the 3-1 home win. The victory was the first of the season for CAU while also being the initial victory for CAU athletics on the newly redesigned court from Epps Gymnasium

HOW IT HAPPENED:
CAU had the worst hitting percentage on the opening set, -.121, with the Panthers committing nine errors in the set loss; 25-16.

The second set saw Clark Atlanta claim the set victory despite being outhit, .273-.261. The Tornadoes led early, 7-3, and later held the 22-15 advantage before the Panthers scored the final 10 points.

Holding the visitors to a .000 hitting percentage in the third set, CAU claimed victory behind .154 hitting for the Panthers. Clark Atlanta jumped out to a 12-6 lead before the visitors called a timeout. Despite a small rally from TC, Clark Atlanta never relinquished the lead and won 25-21.

CAU was outhit again in the final set, .030-.028, and the score was tied late, 23-23. Clark Atlanta tallied the final two match points, including the match ending on the service ace from
Ashley Elmore to claim the Panthers victory.

The overall match hitting percentage favored Talladega; .091-.059.

Clark Atlanta totaled 37 kills and 49 digs to go with 14 aces and five blocks.

Sierra Scoggins led all players with a match-high 14 kills while adding a pair of aces. Scoggins posted a season-best in  attacking percentage (.233) and kills.

Dariyan Stallings tallied a match-best 16 digs while also posting a team-high four aces.

Kiara Govan added a game-high 28 assists, a new best for the Panthers in a four-set match.
