FT. VALLEY, Ga. - A two-touchdown advantage in the fourth quarter for Clark Atlanta was erased and turned into a loss on the road in triple overtime to Fort Valley State; 37-31. Both teams were held scoreless in the first OT round and each school added a touchdown in the second frame. CAU was turned away at the goal line of fourth down in the third OT before FVSU found the end zone on third down from the one yard line for the win.

HOW IT HAPPENED: REGULATION
Clark Atlanta took over at the FVSU 8 on the second drive of the game and
Johnathon McCrary found Travion Webb on the scoring play on first down.
Ty Woods added the PAT and quick CAU was ahead 7-0 with 8:06 remaining in the first quarter.

FVSU responded with a touchdown on the next drive to end the first quarter tied, 7-7.

The lone scoring in the second quarter came with a 42-yard field goal from
Carlos Saldana with just over one minute remaining until halftime to give the Panthers the 10-7 lead at the intermission.

The Wildcats tied the game again with a field goal on the opening drive of the third quarter, 10-10.

Clark Atlanta responded with an 11 play, 72 yard drive that resulted in the
Dashawn Blow touchdown pass to
Deandre Jackson from 24 yards away. Saldana added the PAT to give the Panthers the 17-10 lead heading to the fourth quarter.

CAU would force FVSU to punt on the opening play of the fourth quarter.
Dre Martin would make his way into the backfield and block the Wildcat punt and recover the loose ball at the FVSU 24 yard line.

Blow would reward Martin and find him for 23 yards putting the ball on the one yard line. Blow took matters into his own hands and rushed for the score. Saldana added another PAT to move the CAU advantage to 24-10.

Fort Valley added a touchdown with 5:01 remaining in the game, 24-17, and on the ensuing Clark Atlanta possession the Wildcats would return an interception 35 yards for the game-tying score.
HOW IT HAPPENED: 1ST OVERTIME
Neither team scored in the first OT period. CAU had the ball first and would miss a FG, but the defense would respond by blocking the FVSU field goal attempt thanks to
William Profit blocking the kick.
HOW IT HAPPENED: 2ND OVERTIME
FVSU struck first to begin the second OT with a 25 yard scoring pass on the first play.

Clark Atlanta took little time to respond. Blow rushed for five yards on the first play before tossing the ball to
Trenton Earl for the 20 yard score on the second play for CAU.
HOW IT HAPPENED: 3RD OVERTIME
Blow and
Matthew Daniels each tried - third and fourth downs respectively - to rush the ball in from the one yard line but were turned away each time.

A pass interference call against the CAU defense gave Fort Valley the ball on the CAU five yard line. Three plays later the Wildcats punched the ball in for the winning score.
OFFENSIVE NUMBERS
McCrary went 8-for-12 for 105 yards and the one score while Blow added 6-for-12 passing and two scores. CAU passers - Daniels threw once from his running back position - threw four interceptions on the night.

Daniels rushed 19 times for 91 yards - both single-game highs for the Panthers in 2016.

Jaha McCray added 43 rushing yards on eight carries while Blow (nine) and McCrary (two) rushed from behind center.

Three receivers - Martin, Earl, and
Yeshua Muata - each made three receptions in the game. Martin had 69 yards while Earl totaled 56 yards with the score.
DEFENSIVE NUMBERS
Jacob Mitchell posted a game-high 17 stops including 3.5 tackles-for-loss. Mitchell also added 1.5 sacks in the game.

Jaquatin Victrum posted his second-consecutive double-digit tackle performance with 14 stops. Victrum added 1.5 tackles-for-loss and 0.5 sacks.

Detavion Galmer added three stops behind the line of scrimmage while
Marquise Parker made eight stops in the secondary.

Aquimial Burton had the lone CAU interception.
TEAM NUMBERS
The Panthers tallied 4.0 sacks and 15 tackles-for-loss.

CAU had the advantage in first downs, 19-15, while outrushing the Wildcats, 145-84.

The Panthers also threw for more yards than the home team, 206-106, leading to the overall offensive lead, 351-190.

Clark Atlanta was called for 21 penalties resulting in a loss of 225 yards.
