COLLEGE PARK, Ga. - Clark Atlanta held on to defeat LeMoyne-Owen in Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) action to sweep three games and wrap the regular season with a school record for wins in a season.

HOW IT HAPPENED (GAME 1):
LeMoyne-Owen scored twice in the top of the first before a six-run outburst for Clark Atlanta in the home half of the inning gave CAU the lead for good. The Panthers scored six times on six hits as 12 batters came to the plate.
Arias Smith added to the lead in the second with an RBI single scoring
Jordan Johnson.
After LOC scored three unanswered a pair of 2-run homeruns from
Michael Haywood, Jr. and
Randy Rudulph in the home fourth ended the Clark Atlanta scoring.
The Magicians scored three times in sixth to end the scoring.
Nicolas Mitchell (2-1) relieved
Ryan Betts at pitcher and picked up the win by throwing 2.1 innings and surrendering three runs on three hits striking out a pair.
Malcolm Seabrooks went 3-for-4 at the plate while
Jason Howell, Smith, and Rudulph each tallied two hits.
HOW IT HAPPENED (GAME 2):
Down three runs after the top of the first, Clark Atlanta scored twice in the home first and once in the second to tie the game.
Ayrton Gijsbertha singled to score
Joseph Holmes II before Howell scored on a groundout from Johnson. In the second inning Seabrooks added the RBI-single to drive home
Ceontae Brandon to tie the game.
A third inning run for LOC put the visiting team ahead. Single runs for Clark Atlanta in the fourth and fifth ended the scoring for the game. Seabrooks added another RBI-single scoring Brandon in the fourth; while the game-winning run came in the fifth as Rudulph added the RBI to score
Cedric Garrett.
Holmes (3-4) was the third pitcher used in the game and picked up the victory with five-shutout innings pitched with just two hits allowed and five strikeouts recorded.
Seabrooks and Gijsbertha each registered two hits in the game.
HOW IT HAPPENED (GAME 3):
CAU scored the first eight runs of the game by scoring in each of the first five innings.
A five run sixth inning - only one run earned - closed the gap to 8-5 and a run the next inning for LeMoyne-Owen shrunk the lead to two runs; 8-6.
Clark Atlanta scored three times in the seventh inning on just two hits. Brandon dropped a sacrifice bunt to score Johnson with Betts and Holmes later scoring after a defensive error.
Jezreel Moore (2-12) pitched the first 6.0 innings and yielded 11 hits while allowing six runs - one earned - and striking out two batters. Johnson pitched the final three innings to earn his fourth save of the season with three strikeouts.
Seabrooks, Hayood, and Brandon each had three hits in the final game of the series.
THE NUMBERS:
Game 1: 11 runs, 13 hits, 1 error
Game 2: 5 runs, 7 hits, 1 error
Game 3: 11 run, 14 hits, 5 errors
Brandon had his first three-hit game of the season in the finale.
With multiple hits in each of the three games, Seabrooks now has multiple hits in 12 games.
Clark Atlanta swiped seven bases in the Sunday game for a season-high in one game.
UP NEXT:
Clark Atlanta will await the results from some of the other SIAC games to determine if a make-up date at Paine is needed or if the Panthers have solidified a berth into the SIAC Championship.
Clark Atlanta has eclipsed the previous best win total in a season which was nine wins set in 1974 and matched in 2013 and 2014.
