ATLANTA, Ga. - Clark Atlanta baseball surrendered nine runs in the first inning before losing to Edward Waters College, 18-0, for the third shutout of the season for the Panthers.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Edwards Waters connected for nine runs in the first inning and scored in each of the first six innings before the game was halted after seven.

THE NUMBERS:

Cedric Garrett was the lone Clark Atlanta hitter with multiple hits in the game, going 2-for-2. The other seven hits were shared between Jason Howell, Michael Haywood, Jr., Malcolm Seabrooks, Nicolas Mitchell, Arias Smith, Ceontae Brandon, and Jezreel Moore.
 
DJ Taylor made his first start of the season, lasting four innings and giving up 13 runs - nine earned - on 11 hits with three strikeouts.
 
Moore tossed an inning in relief before Jordan Johnson threw 1/3 of an inning. Johnson was removed after being hit by a batted ball in the hand after striking out one batter and allowing two hits.
 
Ryan Betts came in from right field in relief and tossed the final 1.2 innings adding one more strikeout and allowing just one hit.
