Women's Basketball Splits Games from North Carolina; Defeat St. Augustine's on Sunday 81-60

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Clark Atlanta took a road trip to North Carolina to play two games from host school Winston-Salem State. The Panthers lost the opener on Saturday to the host team before defeating Saint Augustine's on Sunday; 81-60

HOW IT HAPPENED (SAT. - BOXSCORE):
Clark Atlanta fell in the opening day of competition from the Red & White Classic to host Winston-Salem State as the home team outscored the Panthers by 11 points in the second half.
 
CAU led the battle in points from the paint, 26-20, and fast break scoring, 10-8. The match up saw the teams tie in points off turnovers (18), second chance scoring (eight), and bench scoring (21).
 
Marissa Mandeldove was the lone Panther to reach double-digits in scoring with 15 points to go with a game-high seven assists.
 
Sydney Davis had a team-best eight rebounds off the bench to go with nine points scored.
 
CAU shot 35.6 percent from the floor on 21-for-59 shooting including 6-of-17 from 3-point range. CAU also went 7-for-12 from the FT line.

HOW IT HAPPENED (SUN. - BOXSCORE):
Clark Atlanta led for the majority of the game, retaking the lead with 3:08 left in the second quarter after Kiyanna Johnson was good on a layup to put the Panthers ahead 30-29. CAU would close the opening half on a 9-3 run to lead at the intermission, 39-23.
 
Clark Atlanta opened the second half on a 8-0 run to move the lead to 15 points, 47-32, and would later run the advantage to as many as 23 points midway through the fourth quarter.
 
Clark Atlanta dominated the second half points, 42-28, aided by a 5-0 advantage from 3-point range as the Panthers shot 13-for-27 from the floor in the final 20 minutes.

THE NUMBERS:
Mandeldove posted a game-high 26 points by going 8-for-8 from the floor, including 1-of-1 from 3-point range.
 
Nicole Graham (16) and Courtney Hall (15) also reached double-digit points to outscore the leading Falcon scorer.
 
Hall registered her first double-double of her career with her second 10 rebound game of the season.
 
Clark Atlanta shot 27-for-56 (48.2 percent) from the floor with seven made 3-pointers. CAU was 20-for-28 from the FT line (71.4 percent), including 11-for-15 in the second half.
 
Clark Atlanta led in points off turnovers, 24-7, points in the paint, 38-24, and fast break scoring, 10-4.

UP NEXT:
